My name is John Coker, first let me say my first love is my family. My wife Michelle and 3
children. Without the family hunting would just be hunting. Without the support from the
wife and kids hunting would not be the same. Yes I did have the passion for hunting
lone before I met my wife but she makes it better. The support I get from the family is
unmatched. Lets start by saying it all started as a 5 year old following my dad in the
woods started it all. The passion for the outdoors has been growing for the last 35
years. I think the older I get the passion grows stronger and stronger. I am thankful the
lord gave me a great family, clear mind and an able body to do the things I love. He also
gave me the drive that is second to none. That drive takes me thousands of mile and
lots of sleepless nights. That drive keeps me in the tree hundreds of hours a season. It
also keeps me around many of friends and family members in other states. I can’t
explain the drive but it takes me all over. I get to hunt all over the southeast and a couple
of mid west states. The experience comes from a lot of trial and error in the woods. I am
self-taught and I do really well in the woods. I have been told by many I could get a deer
in the Wal- mart parking lot now that would be something to talk about. The friends I
have met over the years are really the best friends a man could have. We set and tell
our stories and have great times in the deer and turkey woods. Speaking of stories
every turkey beard and deer rack has a story behind it. Some are good and some are
luck but it has a story. It’s not always about the kill because I have a lot of stories still
running around in the woods. I hope I never wake up because this is a dream of a
lifetime. The wife and kids, thousands of inches in horns, hundreds of inches in turkey
beards and spurs are all gifts from god.
Please keep m coming.

I grew up out west in the great state of Arizona. My love for Gods Great Outdoors and all
its bounty started when I was 4yrs old carrying my Red Rider BB gun hunting dove next
to my Dad and my Australian Sheppard Bobby.  Every year when hunting season would
come around I wouldn’t be able to sleep a wink the night prior. The times I shared with
my Dad are priceless and everlasting. My Dad was an “outstanding” marksman and
hunter. He taught me the ways of the outdoorsmen and lead by example on how to be a
good Father. My fascination with hunting continued to grow; I read every Peter Capstick
book about the Dark Continent and was mesmerized with the stories of Teddy
Roosevelt’s hunting adventures. After graduating high school my love of hunting and
outdoor adventure lead me to join the Army and tryout for the Elite Army Rangers.  I now
have been in the Rangers for over 20 years and they have continued to hone the skills
and discipline my Father taught me as a young boy.  I have had the privilege to harvest
numerous North American Big Game animals, from the elusive Black Tail Buck to the
Majestic Wapiti.  My Ranger Compass brought me to the Great South in 1994. I have
found my niche in the South; this is truly a hunting wonderland, where the abundance of
wildlife, long seasons and southern hospitality is second to none. I have been married
to my grade school sweetheart for 17 years now and have 2 wonderful children. My
favorite hunting buddy is my 10 yr old son Matt Jr. Passing it on to my Son has been a
blessing and blast. The deer stand or blind can be the best classroom, with the
countless hours of quality time we have shared he has grown to truly love the great
outdoors and appreciate what the Good Lord continues to provide for us and the
Freedoms we enjoy as Americans. Watching him take his first wild boar at age 7 and
filming him take his first doe and 8 pt Buck at age 9 are memories that we will cherish
forever. Hunting with your children are truly the best times. I hope to make many more
memories in the field with them and my other hunting brethren whether it’s be being
busted by Ole Thomas or blown and by an old wise Nanny it’s all good to me that’s why
we call it Hunting!
Have a good One,
Matt Wilson
